Interview
Although Todd Baxter does full-color work with both of his favorite mediums (oils and colored pencils), his trademark style is half-tone colored pencil portraits. He talks about the motivation behind using one color of pencil on colored paper, as well as his transition from full-time self-employed graphic artist to fine artist.
He also gives us a peek into his spacious and beautiful studio, including his Top Three list of studio must-haves, and 8 marketing ideas for generating art income.
Tutorial
Todd’s advanced-level tutorial is a bit different from most CP Magic! tutorials. How? He focuses more on creating a line drawing freehand than on rendering. This is no fill-in-the-shapes tutorial! If you’re looking for a better way to make realistic freehand drawings, then you’ll want to spend some time with Todd and his tutorial.
Creating Textures with Colored Pencils, Part 1
Cynthia Knox presents the first part of a two-part series describing how she creates all those wonderful textures using colored pencils. This month, she talks about flower petals, lace and metal.
Product Review: Art Spectrum Colourfix Smooth Pastel Paper
