Interview
Gina Leone Middings’ passion for dogs—especially Dachshunds—and her passion for art came together naturally at an early age. She is a skilled artist in a number of categories, but she talks specifically about her colored pencil journey and how it was nurtured by her beloved dogs.
She also has great advice for artists at all levels and all stages of their artistic journey borne of her years of experience as a professional artist.
Tutorial
Gina’s tutorial is a beautiful, tight-focus look at drawing a dog’s eye on Pastelmat. She shows you how she creates that “liquid look” that makes the eye look like it could blink at any second.
This small (4×4 inches) project is an ideal way to spend a weekend.
It’s also a perfect “learning tool” for even the most advanced of us.

Creative Passion
Carrie L. Lewis
One thing all artists have in common is creative passion. That passion manifests itself in different ways, but it exists for all of us. In each of June’s two featured articles, Carrie focuses on creative passion.
Staying True to Your Creative Passion is written to help you stay true to your creative passion no matter what other people tell you.
Don’t yet know what your creative passion is? That’s okay. Carrie’s second article shares tips for finding it! Discovering Your Creative Passion shares five places you can begin the search for the subject, methods, and style that energizes your creative passion.

The magazine closes with the Reader’s Gallery and the Final Pencil Stroke.
