Interview

Susan Casault grew up on a farm in central Alberta, Canada, and has had a love of drawing her whole life. She studied at the Alberta University for the Arts and graduated with a major in visual communications.

Susan often works in graphite, colored pencil, or pen & ink. The interplay between colors, textures, and gradations of light are a defining feature of Susan’s drawings, whether they are prairie scenes, nature studies, or portraiture.

Tutorial

Susan’s tutorial is perfect for spring, and includes her technique for capturing light. She uses Prismacolor pencils on Stonehenge paper (one of my personal favorite combinations). If you’re looking for a weekend project, this one is perfect.
