Tips for Artists
Featured Artist: Susan Wehrman
Interview
By her own admission, Susan did not set out to become an artist, but she has enjoyed expressing her creativity all her life. She has tried a number of mediums including egg tempera, water-soluble oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastel. But her favorite medium is colored pencil, for which she has developed some special techniques for a more painterly approach.
Tutorial
Her tutorial features an award winning portrait of a Golden Retriever pup taking its first swim. She shares in detail how to draw water and dog fur (wet dog fur!). The tutorial is advanced level, but it’s well worth a try for artists at all levels, especially if you love combining detail with a painterly process.
