As with last month, the studio news for August 2025 is going to be short and sweet. I’m still dealing with lingering symptoms from a virus infection in June. They’re not serious, but they are leaving me easily fatigued. That, of course, means more sleep, and that means less time for more fun things!

CP Magic! News
The good news is that despite weariness and other issues, I have been able to keep up on the magazine. The September issue featuring Ann Richman published on time.
The September issue is available in digital and print formats.
One comment on the print versions of the magazine. You may have noticed that the price went up one dollar for the regular issues. That’s because printing costs increased. I’ve absorbed part of the cost, but the increase in the retail price was still necessary.

Drawing Time for the Month
The goal for drawing time in August was 20 hours. I drew for a total of 23 hours and about 20 minutes in August. A decent effort given the circumstances.
What did I work on?
ACEOs! The challenge for August for the ACEO group was abstract art, and something about that appealed to me. I created a dozen abstract ACEOs. Following are three of them.
I also finished one coloring page on a similar theme. This was another coloring page I designed myself.
The only other non-ACEO artwork I finished was this miniature piece.
Lest you think I’ve given up on “fine” art, I have been thinking about landscapes, and I actually did a little bit of ink work as a base layer for a potential new piece.
But that didn’t turn out well enough to show you. I enjoyed the brush work quite a bit, but discovered that I need better and smaller brushes before I go any further.
Looking to the Future
I’m still not doing much more than working from one day to the next. All classes and tutorials are on hold until my art production is more reliable. After all, it’s difficult to design a class or write a tutorial on artwork that doesn’t exist!

That’s all the news that’s fit to print (or publish) for August 2025. Despite the challenges, it seems like a pretty good month as I look back on it.
