The I’ve Always Wanted to Draw Class Schedule shown below is for 2018 only and is still tentative. I will be adding additional details on classes and class descriptions as it becomes available.
I’ve Always Wanted to Draw Class Schedule
August 2018: I’ve Always Wanted to Draw Clouds
In this class, you’ll learn how to draw clouds in a blue sky from the initial sketch to the final layers of color. Work from a provided reference photo (at left) to draw realistic clouds with strong light and shadow and accurate color that look like they’re part of the sky.
Colored pencils (any brand) and drawing paper or a sketch pad.
September 2018: I’ve Always Wanted to Draw from Life
Master the basics of drawing directly from life. Learn how to reduce any subject to the most basic shapes, add the big details to create a resemblance, then develop the additional details that make your subject unique. Once you understand and can implement these lessons, you’ll be able to draw anything freehand from life with a reasonable amount of accuracy.
Course Materials: Colored pencils and drawing paper or a sketch pad.
October 2018: I’ve Always Wanted to Draw a Kitten
In this class, you’ll learn how to draw an adorable kitten on gray paper using a limited palette of color. Discover the joys of working on a medium-dark paper and drawing light and dark values. You’ll also see how to draw hair and eyes for a realistic kitten portrait.
Colored Pencils (any brand)
Medium Dark Drawing Paper. Canson Mi-Teintes Steel is recommended.
November 2018: I’ve Always Wanted to Draw Something Reflective
