Drawing a Landscape in Gray Light—The Email Drawing Class

Each lesson is a complete mini-tutorial with illustrations and instructions, as well as special tips unique to the subject, the paper, the lesson, and other details.

Students will also see how to improve on the color of a reference photo that isn’t ideal.

Skill Level

Intermediate and Higher

Carrie provides a complete supply list and tells students what colors and strokes she uses at each stage. She also explains her choices so students can begin to understand how to make decisions for their own projects.

The class also requires basic freehand drawing skills. No line drawing is included with this class.

Beginners can take this class and do well, but it may be more of a challenge for them.

The idea of adding in darker tones first with an under drawing in umber is like starting out with one of the old fashioned sepia colored photos and adding color to it… only better! This really works and I plan to draw other scenery pictures following this technique. Thank you Carrie. You are a good teacher and this was a fun class.
