Faith is the first born in a litter of five for a first-time mother. She was born the smallest of the five, and remains the smallest, though she is now about the same size and weight as the next smallest kitten, Priscilla.
She’s an affectionate kitten, but not much of a cuddler. She often sleeps nearby when I sit to work or read, and has also napped with us, but she rarely sits on a lap for the sake of sitting on a lap.
She likes to play rough, especially with her siblings. She runs and plays with all of them, with her mother, and with some of the older cats in the house. Priscilla and Faith are close in size and weight, so they often play together, but Faith is not at all afraid to tackle her brother, Aquila, which outweighs her by at least a pound.
Faith has been raised entirely indoors, so she’s well-acquainted with the litter box and with the water bottle, which we use for discipline and training.
Faith eats regular canned cat food and dry cat food at will. Because their mother requires a special diet (Hill’s Biome Dry,) that’s what the kittens eat as well. But they have also eaten Hill’s Science Diet Kitten, Purina Kitten Chow, Purina Cat Chow, and Blue Buffalo dry.
The family has a history of digestive sensitivities, but Faith has shown no inclination in that direction so far.
She has had no serious illnesses.
However, at two months old, she visited a vet because she stopped gaining weight. She was within the normal weight range for her age, though she was near the low end of that range. After a couple of weeks and special feeding, she began to gain weight again, and surpassed three pounds by the time she was three months old.
Momma cat is starting to turn the kittens away when they want to nurse, so it’s time for them to find new homes.
