Last week was a bit slow in the studio where my lesson paintings were concerned.
On Monday, I worked on three paintings and finished the umber stage with two of them. Joker and Blue Cooler are both now in the drying process leading up to the dead layer.
I will check them next Monday, April 6, to [...]

Monday Discoveries

Carrie L. Lewis | March 26, 2009

I’ve learned something in the studio; I’m too detail oriented at all stages.
Before starting to paint on Monday, I opened up the Country Pitcher lesson and looked at the First Umber Layer stage again. Guess what. I’m supposed to be just blocking in lights and darks and some of the details at that stage. Not [...]

As also mentioned, our primary purpose for that trip was to support friend and fellow artist, Ross Cole, in his debut exhibit at the Paseo Studios in the Paseo District of Oklahoma City. [...]

Ross Cole in the Paseo District

Carrie L. Lewis | March 19, 2009

Neal and I spent March 6 in Oklahoma City, enjoying two very special art venues. One old and established, one relatively new.
The primary purpose of our visit was to attend the opening of a friend and local artist at the Gallery Walk in the Paseo District of Oklahoma City.
Ross Cole, lives in Wichita, Kansas and [...]

March 17, 2009 Update

Carrie L. Lewis | March 17, 2009

Last week was a very good painting week.
Four new paintings were added to the rotation of paintings in the Flemish technique. Two of them are shown here.
Buckles & Belts (at left) is the first ’still life’ I am attempting. The focus is the combination of buckles, straps and shadows where a bridle and halter meet.
The [...]
