ACEO Landscape Painting A Day

ACEO Landscape Paintings
by Carrie L. Lewis

Week 18, 2007

It has been a challenge to get one new ACEO landscape painting finished each day.

Late last week, I sat down with a stack of Michigan reference photographs and started a handful of compositions, blocking in shapes and color, then setting them aside to dry. The thought was that they would be ready to finish throughout this week.

Then the rainy weather moved in. While Kansas needs the moisture badly and I love the light and colors of a rainy day, the dampness really slowed the drying process. The result was a well watered yard and garden outside and paintings inside that were still nearly as wet at the end of this week as they were on Monday.

I also filled in the week by completing a dog portrait on Monday and by doing two quick landscape studies on a couple of other days.

I hope you enjoy this week's collection of original ACEO landscape paintings!

Landscape Study #141 2007

This is the beginning stage of a more complicated composition. Today, all I was able to do was block in the shapes with basic color and design the composition. A good start!

Landscape Study #145 2007

Today's ACEO is a revisit to the landscape I finished earlier this week. This time, I left out the rainbow and focused instead on the play of light and shadow in the foreground and middleground.

Thank you for your interest in my ACEO landscapes. I hope you have enjoyed browsing them as much as I have enjoyed making them.
