Week 13, 2007
I crossed a threshold this week that had been previously so far out that it was never even considered.
I finished the 100th painting of the year on Wednesday night.
Up until this year, I figured that any year that saw me complete 12 to 14 paintings was a productive year. In 2006, I finished 10 portraits. I did also do 61 ACEOs that year, but the vast majority of them were pencil sketches very loosely drawn in just a few minutes. I considered them hardly more than sketches.
I knew when I set about this year's challenge that it was inevitable I would cross the 100 finished paintings mark. What I didn't expect was that it would happen so soon. On Day 86.
That's only 75 painting days. Actually, only 73, since I missed two days of painting in the last 10 days.
Incredible!
The long line of paintings lining my studio walls is also incredible. There is a lot of really good work in that collection. I am very pleased.
And thankful to God for His grace in giving me this talent and in helping me to make use of it.
If I finish the year averaging one new ACEO landscape painting for every painting day, I will end up with 313 new paintings by the end of the year. I am wondering what is to keep me from trying for 400?
